Acorn Naturalists
This 10,000 square foot two story building was completed in seven months. The building features unusually shaped brick columns that support the craftsman style entry way, a slate roof and copper gutters. There are five colors of stain on a variety of woods over-layed on steel trowel stucco.
The entry doors are hand carved synthetic oak from Tennessee in the shape of an acorn tree which is the company’s logo.
Inside a front planter is a private patio where patrons can browse through the nature books.
Acorn Naturalists is a both a retail operation and a wholesale distributor of educational materials that focuses on the natural sciences. The building has been featured by The Orange County Register and Sunset Magazine for its unique architectural style and drought resistant landscape.
The project was designed by Leason Pomeroy, FAIA of LP3 and was developed for Acorn Naturalists by Leason Pomeroy and Prescott Properties for approximately $1.3 M.
